Carole John, Cultural Affairs Advisor

Carole Elaine John, born and raised in New Providence, is a distinguished educator with a passion for fostering academic and career success in her students.

Carole’s character was profoundly shaped by her upbringing in a household with semi-illiterate parents who prioritized providing her and her siblings with the best education available. The influence of her older sisters, who achieved high levels of education and successful professions, served as inspiring role models, instilling in Carole a sense of principled determination.

In 1970, Carole earned her high school diploma from Government High School, followed by her teaching certificate from Bahamas Teachers’ College in 1974. She furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from Sojourner College. Carole’s teaching career has spanned various settings, including government schools, private schools, and an international school, with her impact felt across Exuma, Eleuthera, Mayaguana, and New Providence.

Having retired from Lyford Cay International School in June 2016, Carole continues to contribute to education by serving as a regular substitute teacher for both elementary and senior schools. Her extensive experience includes teaching in the Primary Years Program (PYP) and Middle Years Program (MYP), where she has witnessed the development of critical thinking, self-reliance, and resilience in her students.

Looking towards the future, Carole eagerly anticipates playing a vital role in the establishment of a company dedicated to enhancing education in the Bahamas. Drawing on her rich background as a teacher in both international and national educational systems, she aims to seamlessly align with the objectives of Executive Education and Training in The Bahamas. Carole recognizes the need for creative solutions to address the present and future challenges facing the nation and is poised to contribute her expertise to this endeavor with enthusiasm and commitment.
